The District @ a Glance
In the annals of Lions Club International’s history, a remarkable transformation unfolded within District 404A3, previously known as District 404A1. It was a period of dynamic change that took root under the leadership of Lion Ano Anyanwu, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of service and community empowerment.
During the tenure of Lion Ano Anyanwu, a pivotal decision was made in April 2023 that would redefine the course of Lions activities in the region. District 404A1, which had once stood as a single entity, underwent a significant bifurcation. This strategic move led to the emergence of Districts 404A3 and 404A4, signifying a commitment to broader impact and more targeted initiatives.
The origins of District 404A1 traced back to the visionary actions of District 404, which had effectively divided its ranks to create multiple districts: A1, A2, B1, and B2. This transformational step was a testament to the dedication of Lions to amplify their service impact and create specialized avenues for community engagement.
With the emergence of District 404A3, a new era of service leadership began. At the forefront of this transformation stood Lion Shakiru Niyi Balogun, the pioneer District Governor of District 404A3. Lion Shakiru’s leadership exemplified the commitment and passion that Lions stood for, inspiring a sense of purpose and unity among the members of the district. Passionately concerned about the growth of the district, Hence “A Heart of Service”
One of the most noteworthy aspects of District 404A3’s evolution was its restructured organizational framework. The district, which had grown both in scope and ambition, now comprised eight regions, this implies that there are 8 region chairpersons who oversees and ensures efficient administration and fostering a sense of belonging within each geographical area.
Within the regions, the spirit of unity and collaboration found further expression through the establishment of two zones in each region. These zones, skillfully led by Zone Chairpersons, acted as hubs of localized Lions activity, enabling more focused community engagement and efficient project execution.
The impressive growth and impact of District 404A3 were also underscored by the proliferation of Lions clubs within its boundaries. A total of 58 Lion clubs, and counting, bore witness to the district’s commitment to collective action, service excellence, and positive change.
As the curtains closed on the last Lions year that concluded on June 30th, 2023, the legacy of District 404A3 was firmly established. Their story was one of transformation, unity, and the unyielding pursuit of making a meaningful difference. With each Lion embodying the spirit of our Past District Governors, Lion Ano Anyanwu, Lion Shakiru Niyi Balogun, and others Lion Leaders, District 404A3 stood ready to embrace the future with hope, determination, and an unwavering dedication to the ethos of Lions Club International – In Lionism “We Serve.”
